El Dorado County Launches a New Call-In Number for Community Hubs

00:00 AM - September 12, 2019

Kids work on their fine motor skills at the SuperHub event in Hub 5 (South Lake Tahoe).

The First 5 El Dorado Commission, in partnership with the El Dorado County Library, Health and Human Services Agency, and Office of Education, is pleased to announce a new Community Hubs 800 number (833-EDC-HUBS or 833-332-4827) for families in El Dorado County. This line is one more way to find information about or access Hub services.

In 2016, Community Hubs in El Dorado County was created to provide expecting parents and families with children ages 0-18 years access to useful information and services that build resilience in children, families and the community. “Connections matter for children to have healthy brains, caring relationships and strong communities,” said Kathleen Guerrero, Executive Director of First 5 El Dorado, “Community Hubs help connect families to services and supports in their community.”

As of September 11, 2019, Community Hubs now has a new centralized phone line to help families with questions and concerns addressing needs such as:

  • Finding a doctor or dentist
  • Helping to get health insurance/Medi-Cal
  • Supporting a new mom with prenatal care or breastfeeding
  • Finding a local play group and Library storytime schedules
  • Connecting with parenting classes and support groups
  • Assisting with understanding your child’s behavior or development
  • Accessing community resources, and more

“Our Community Hub Teams are available to guide families to the services that they are looking for,” said Ms. Guerrero, “We hope that having a single, centralized number that anyone can call will make it easier to access Community Hubs and connect El Dorado County families to services they may not know about.”

Families in El Dorado County are encouraged to call the number, inquiring about services and events in their Hub. A Community Hubs staff member will be available to respond to non-emergency phone calls Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm; Spanish-speaking staff are available as needed.

Parents and caretakers are encouraged to save the phone number in their cellphones so they can more easily call when they have a question. Learn more about Community Hubs by visiting the First 5 El Dorado - Community Hubs page or by calling the new Community Hubs number at 833-EDC-HUBS.
