Camino Union School District Selects Patricia Horn as New Superintendent/Principal

On Tuesday, June 21, the Camino Union School District (CUSD) Board unanimously approved the selection of Patricia Horn as their new superintendent/principal. Following the meeting, CUSD Board President Judy Morris stated, “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to welcome Superintendent Patricia Horn to our amazing team. We are confident that her strengths and attributes will blend well with our talented staff and supportive community. We are grateful to Matt Smith for his eight years of dedicated leadership and excited about the future of the Camino Union School District.”

Patricia Horn began her career in education in 1994, serving as a teacher and an assistant principal for the San Juan Unified School District. In 2017, Ms. Horn transitioned to principal at Sierra Elementary School in Placerville. She is a strong advocate for doing what is best for students, academically, socially, and emotionally. 

 “I am humbled to be part of the Camino Union School District,” shared Horn. “Camino is a special place with amazing students, families, and staff. The community has been through many challenges recently and has demonstrated incredible resilience. Together we are going to continue the work of doing great things for students!”

 The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) supported the Camino Board with the recruitment and selection process. Dr. Ed Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, noted, “Superintendent Horn is a trusted and proven leader in El Dorado County. She will positively engage students, families, and educators in an authentic manner, and will be an advocate and leader for the Camino community. Superintendent Horn will enhance the network of El Dorado County district superintendents who collectively aim to make our education system exceptional for all.”
