Kiwanis members organize donated food on table

Kiwanis and EDCOE team members drop off donations to support the Kiwanis Family House.

It was a beautiful Friday morning when Kiwanis Club of Placerville members hosted a drive-through pantry food drive to benefit the Kiwanis House in Sacramento. The drive took place in the parking lot of the El Dorado County Office of Education’s (EDCOE) parking lot, and both Kiwanis and EDCOE team members donated non-perishable food items including canned vegetables and fruit, noodles, pasta sauce, Cup O’ Noodle and more.

The Kiwanis Family House provides temporary housing for families of seriously ill or injured patients being treated at the UC Davis Medical Center or Shriners Hospital in Sacramento. The Kiwanis Family House is a home-away-from-home for families who must travel at least 35 miles from home to seek medical treatment. Jerry Galloway, Club President, expressed, "Our Placerville Kiwanis Club raises funds throughout the year to support the Kiwanis Family House and also participates once or twice a year in doing cleanups at the House."
