Latrobe School District Names David Scroggins as New Superintendent/Principal

The Latrobe School District (LSD) is pleased to announce that Mr. David (Dave) Scroggins will become the district’s new Superintendent/Principal on July 1, 2021. He will replace Natalie Miller, current Superintendent/Principal, who is retiring at the end of this school year. After accepting the position, he expressed, “Latrobe has an amazing reputation for meeting the needs of students and families, and I feel truly honored to be chosen to serve alongside such a fine team of dedicated educators, committed support staff, and devoted families. Latrobe is a wonderful, close-knit community, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to get to know and to serve the children of Miller's Hill and Latrobe Elementary.”

Dave brings with him a broad range of experience from the Rescue Union School District (RUSD). Dave began his career with RUSD as a teacher and taught at both Green Valley Elementary and Pleasant Grove Middle Schools. Dave also has experience as an administrator serving as assistant principal at Green Valley and Pleasant Grove and principal of Pleasant Grove before moving into a district level position as Director of Curriculum and Instruction. He is currently the Assistant Superintendent with responsibilities in the areas of Human Resources, Technology and Assessment and Curriculum.

Dr. Ed Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, stated, “Mr. Scroggins is an exceptional leader. The students, families, and educators of Latrobe School District will benefit significantly by his authentic care, educational expertise, and professionalism. I am filled with gratitude and excitement to see Mr. Scroggins transition into the Superintendent role!”

In the announcement to her schools, Superintendent Miller noted, “I have worked with Dave for over ten years. Dave is the perfect fit for Latrobe. The staff is excited to begin working with him, and I know that they will benefit from his knowledge, experience, enthusiasm, and genuine love for education. Dave is passionate about working with kids and teachers.”

Cheryl Olson, RUSD Superintendent, noted, “Mr. David Scroggins is the consummate educator, leader, and person. He changes lives, ensures success, and inspires others to go above and beyond. Students and adults are better people for being blessed to work with him and know him.”
