Patrick Paturel Selected as Pioneer USD Superintendent

Photo of PatrickThe Pioneer Union School District (PUSD) is pleased to announce that Patrick Paturel will become their new Superintendent and Principal of Mountain Creek Middle School. After the PUSD board approved his selection during their meeting on Thursday, April 7, Board President Jonathan Russell expressed, “Patrick brings a wealth of experience and knowledge having worked in our county for many years. We welcome him with open arms and are excited to see the district grow and flourish under his direction.”

Paturel noted, “Pioneer, as a school district, has a 68-year history of excellence in serving student needs. I am honored to participate in the shaping of a future for the district that builds on this past work.”

Superintendent Paturel has served in education throughout El Dorado County since 1998 in a variety of roles, including mathematics teacher and department chair at Markham Middle School, Assistant Principal at Pleasant Grove Middle School and Green Valley Elementary School, Principal at Louisiana Schnell Elementary School and Program Administrator at the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE). He was also honored with the 2019 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Administrator of the Year award – the highest award that is given by ACSA Region 2, representing educational leaders from 14 Northern California counties.

After the board’s confirmation, Dr. Ed Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, noted, “Superintendent Paturel will build upon the resilience and strength of the Pioneer school-community. His professional expertise and firm commitment to do what is in the best interest of students, families, and educators are aligned to the positive trajectory of the district. We look forward to watching PUSD thrive under his leadership.”
