Vacancies for Child Abuse Prevention Council

The El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council is accepting applications for board membership to fill four vacancies serving at the discretion of the Board of Supervisors. Two vacancies are open to a concerned Community representative, Community Volunteer, Civic Or., Religious Communities and two vacancies are open to Public CWS, CWD; Criminal Justice; Law Enforcement, DA, Courts, Coroner to sit on the local Council to assist in planning child abuse prevention activities.

The fifteen member Council is a legislatively mandated body advising the Board of Supervisors and serves as the Children’s Trust Fund Commission. The primary purpose of the Child Abuse Prevention Council is to coordinate the community’s efforts to prevent and respond to child abuse. The El Dorado County Child Abuse Prevention Council works to increase awareness and respect for the rights of children to be free of abuse and neglect by providing a forum for interagency cooperation and coordination in the prevention, detection, intervention, treatment, and legal processing of child abuse cases; promoting public awareness of abuse and neglect; encouraging and facilitating training of professionals; recommending improvements in services to families and victims; encouraging community support for child abuse and neglect programs.
