Developer Fees
El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) collects developer fees associated with building permits for all districts in the county with the exception of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District.
On January 1, 1987, AB 2926 enacted Government Code sections 65995 and 53080, which authorizes school districts to levy a developer fee on new construction, for the purpose of paying their required share of school building construction. The fee is levied based on the square footage of residential and commercial/industrial building. Below are the district fees, which include both the elementary and high school districts rates:

Additions - under 500 s.f. that are attached to an existing dwelling will not be assessed a school fee. Dwelling space of any size added to an accessory building will be subject to school fees.
Commercial/Industrial - $.55 - $.84 per s.f.
