Black Oak Mine Unified School District Welcomes Dr. Gabe Simon as New Superintendent

The Black Oak Mine Unified School District (BOMUSD) Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Dr. Gabe Simon as the new District Superintendent. Dr. Simon's distinguished career spans various educational roles, reflecting a deep commitment to transformative leadership and instructional excellence. Expressing his anticipation for the new chapter, Dr. Simon states, "I feel extremely fortunate to serve our incredible community's students, families, staff, and Board of Trustees. I look forward to building strong partnerships throughout the district and working to ensure our students learn at high levels."

Dr. Simon's journey in education includes pivotal roles such as Superintendent/Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, and Adjunct Faculty at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). He holds a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership from CSUS, complemented by a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the same institution. He is dedicated to learning and professional growth for himself and with those he leads.

Board President Jeff Burch extends a warm welcome, stating, "We are thrilled to have Dr. Simon join our district as Superintendent. His extensive experience and dedication to education make him an excellent fit for our community. We look forward to working together to enhance the educational experience for our students further."

The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) supported BOMUSD with the recruitment and selection. Dr. Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, echoes the sentiment: "I am confident that Dr. Simon's leadership will bring positive and impactful growth to BOMUSD. His passion for education and wealth of experience will undoubtedly contribute to the success of our students and the entire school community."
