Voters will make many decisions on Election Day in November, including the selection of individuals to fill open seats on school boards throughout the County. The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) will host  a Prospective Board Member Workshop for those interested in serving our schools, students, and families. This workshop is open to residents considering running for a School District Board or County Board of Education opening and will take place at EDCOE on Tuesday, June 11 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

The workshop will provide information regarding the importance and duties of these critical positions. Topics will include time commitment, the Brown Act, policy development, budget responsibilities, and the vital role that school boards play in public education. This workshop will answer many questions so those interested in running may make an informed decision before the election filing period.

Dr. Ed Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, will conduct the workshop alongside Wendy Frederickson, El Dorado County Deputy Superintendent, Administrative Services, and Eric Stevens from Edwards, Stevens, and Tucker, LLC.
