00:00 AM - May 29, 2018

Dr. Ed Manansala speaks to a group of people

Voters will make many decisions on Election Day in November, including the selection of individuals to fill open seats on school boards throughout the County. The El Dorado County School Boards Association and the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) will host the Prospective School Board Member Workshop for those interested in serving our schools, students, and families. This workshop will take place at EDCOE on June 20, 2018, and provide information regarding the importance and duties of these critical positions.

El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ed Manansala, and EDCOE Legal Counsel Michael Tucker will conduct the workshop. The topics will include time commitment, the Brown Act, policy development, budget responsibilities, and the vital role that school boards play in public education. This workshop will provide valuable information and answer many questions, so those interested in running may make an informed decision before the election filing period, (July 16 - August 10).
