The Democratic Party of El Dorado County's Annual Essay Contest: Encouraging Civic Engagement and Intellectual Exploration

The Democratic Party of El Dorado County sponsors an annual essay contest for public high school juniors and seniors. The contest topic is announced in September, and essays, 900-1200 words long, are due by late January.
The top three essays are awarded cash prizes of $1500, $750, and $500. Judges are impartial and not affiliated with any El Dorado County Democratic Club, ensuring anonymity during the evaluation process. Winners are announced in early March, and an awards luncheon in April honors them, their parents, teachers, and school administrators.
