The Kiwanis Club of Placerville recently awarded Trinity Handel with the Student Service Leader of the Month award for January to acknowledge her hard work and dedicated service through the Markham Middle School Kiwanis Builders Club. A Kiwanis Builders Club is similar to the high school Key Clubs and intended for middle school aged students. After receiving the award, Trinity expressed, “I am so excited to receive this award. Thank you for everything!”

Brian Veerkamp, Placerville Kiwanis President, explained, “Our student service leaders are selfless and passionate about their work that benefits many. I’m very proud of Trinity and her long listing of accomplishments.”

Paul Zappetini, Builders Club Advisor, noted, “Trinity Handel has been a member of our Builders’ Club, and part of our leadership team, for the past two years.  She epitomizes the core values of Builders’ Club: heart to serve, call to lead and courage to engage. She participates in our club activities, including our garden projects at Markham Middle School, the Placerville Christmas Parade, the recent Grizzly Feast, and others.  Trinity has also run a number of our meetings when our president was unavailable. Trinity brings a positive attitude to all of our meetings and activities.  She is a musician, and has attended the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp, among some of her outside activities. Last year, Trinity received an award for her service to her school and her local community. The advisors of the Markham Builders’ Club are proud to nominate Trinity for the Placerville Kiwanis Student Service Leader Award.”
